July 1st, 2008 . by adminOn your next visit to Providence, take the opportunity to visit the Museum of Natural History located here. This is the only Natural History museum in Rhode Island, and the state’s only public Planetarium is located here. A variety of exhibits devoted to cultural studies as well as natural history are featured at the Museum, including exhibits devoted to Native American and Pacific Island cultures. There is currently an excellent lunar-themed exhibit on that includes photographs, images and data collected from Apollo, Clementine, and other space expeditions and explorations. If you are interested in learning more about the moon, stars and planets, plan to attend one of the fascinating Planetarium Programs held at the Museum on weekends. Special events such as bird walks and fossil viewing expeditions are regularly sponsored by Rhode Island’s Museum of Natural History. You could also plan to participate in an observational drawing course which focuses on viewing and sketching items from the Museum’s collection.
