Throughout mormon history, one of the most important commandments God has given His children is the building of temples. Every time the early Saints moved to a new location, the first commandment was to build a temple, and the Lord grew angry with them when they delayed and made excuses. This is not because the Lord was selfish and wanted a building for Himself; rather it is because the greatest blessings He has to offer can only be manifest in a temple. Mormon history shows that limitless blessings pour out on the Saints as well as on their surrounding, non-Mormon communities when temples are built.
