Stapleton Real Estate - A Brief History

August 25th, 2008 . by admin

Here’s a piece of history of how the planned community at Stapleton came to be: the plan to replace Stapleton International Airport with Denver International Airport was first heard of in 1989 and from there – urban developers began to discuss how to best redevelop the site where the Stapleton International Airport was standing then. Yet it wasn’t until 1995 that Stapleton Development Foundation (a private group composed of Denver civic leaders) which convened in 1990, produced a master plan for the Stapleton real estate which was pictured as an urban development that will be pedestrian-oriented rather than automobile-oriented – a design uncommon among many other planned developments. The Stapleton area is slated to become grounds for the "green plan," a world-recognized outline for a sustainable community. In fact, nearly one-third of the former airport site was slated for redevelopment as public park space.
